A hard-swinging old style jazz band featuring piano professor from The States, Andrew Oliver. Oregon pianist, composer, and musicologist Oliver is presently resident in the UK and we’ve formed a very hard-swinging jazz band around him of propulsive grooves and sultry melodies which made early jazz revolutionary, controversial, and wildly popular.
The Dime Notes dig back into the blues-drenched sounds of clarinet-driven 1920’s New Orleans jazz, raising the roof with a repertoire of stomps, blueses, and forgotten gems of the era.
Fronted by Chris Barber’s long-time clarinettist David Horniblow, who’s also appeared with British Jazz greats Jamie Cullum, Acker Bilk, and Jools Holland. American pianist Andrew Oliver is an authority on Jelly Roll Morton and instigator of numerous acclaimed bands and projects in New Orleans and Portland. Anchored by the unstoppable pulse of London's knockout rhythm section, guitarist Dave Kelbie, long time with Evan Christopher’s Django a la Creole, and London-based slap bass specialist Tom Wheatley.
